Join GreenThumb and Audubon for From the Ramble to the Garden: Bird-Safe Habitat Practices . This bilingual English/Spanish walking workshop uses The Ramble in Central Park as an outdoor classroom for learning how community gardens can better support birds and urban wildlife. Participants will explore bird habitat through guided observation, sound-based activities, and three ecological themes: water, food, and shelter. Along the route, we will connect what we see in The Ramble to practical community garden actions, including native planting, clean water sources, leaf litter, habitat corners, safe pruning, pesticide-free care, and reducing disturbance. The workshop will also include time for reflection, networking, birdwatching, and a poetic closing activity called The Heart of Feathers , during which participants will leave with personal commitments and practical resources to bring back to their gardens. NYC Parks GreenThumb hosts this event. We are proud to be the nation’s most extensive urban community gardening program, sustaining over 550 gardens throughout New York City. With GreenThumb’s support, community gardens are centers of environmental justice, ensuring that our city is fairer, safer, and greener for all. GreenThumb’s events are free and open to the public.
