6BC Botanical Garden will be hosting Monologues, a performance series for words to music, with readings by Iris McCloughan and Rebecca Ariel Porte and music by Bec El-Saleh. Iris McCloughan is a director, performance maker, and writer. Their directing credits include Lempicka and Sad Boys in Harpy Land. A Stanley Kunitz Memorial Prize winner and author of three chapbooks, they have also collaborated with Joan Jonas and Eiko Otake. Rebecca Ariel Porte is a member of the Core Faculty at Brooklyn Institute for Social Research. Her completed manuscript, a theory of paradise, is called On Earthly Delights and her work-in-progress is Impossible to Take Alive, a book of essays about poems. Bec El-Saleh is a sound artist and classically-trained harpist. They create ambient music with their duo R&D and art-pop as Kitba. As a performer and recording artist, Bec has collaborated with David Byrne, Cassandra Jenkins, Half Waif, and This Will Destroy You.
