Make Music New York is a unique festival of free concerts in public spaces throughout the five boroughs of New York City. Celebrate the longest day of the year with a free performance in West Harlem Piers. Melissa Jones is a Brooklyn-based vocalist, songwriter, poet, producer, and educator whose music blends soul, jazz, neo-soul, funk, and improvisation. Known for her expressive vocals and dynamic live performances, she creates music that celebrates storytelling, connection, and the richness of the Black experience. Drawing inspiration from artists such as Erykah Badu, Esperanza Spalding, Georgia Anne Muldrow, and Solange, Melissa's work bridges contemporary soul with jazz sensibilities and spoken word influences. Whether performing original compositions or reimagined classics, she brings a distinctive voice rooted in authenticity, creativity, and emotional depth. Melissa has performed throughout New York City and beyond, including appearances at Red Rooster Harlem, the Harlem Meer Performance Festival, Brooklyn Bowl, Nublu, the National Jazz Museum in Harlem, and numerous community arts and cultural events.
